The Passion Play organised by The Centre For Performing Arts – Canada, will be staged on Saturday, March 24, 2018 @ 7 pm at Middlefield Collegiate Institute, 525 Highglen Aveneue, Markham.
“A Historical Record of Kayts Island” authored by Mr. Raymond Rajabalan was released on June 17th 2017 at the summer get together organised by Kayts Association of Canada at Morningside Park, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. Rev. Fr. Charles Collins was the special guest and Mr. Raphael Selvakumar coordinated the event. Retired teachers Messrs. K. Thavapalan and Anton Rexi gave introduction about this historic book. Mr. Theodotus Thevathasan read a poem. Finally Rev. Fr. Charles distributed the books to the sponsors, donors and well-wishers.
A historical book bout Kayts Island will be released on June 17th 2017 at Morningside Park, Scarborough at “Kayts Picnic” get-together. The book is written by Mr. Raymond Rajabalan, a freelance writer in Canada who has contributed hundreds of articles on wide variety of topics to Canadian Newspapers such as Monsoon Journal, Tamil Mirror, The Anchorman, Siragu and Uthayan. It contains number of articles and pictures about the ancient glory of Kayts and its talented citizens, history of schools, churches and temples etc.
The annual feast of St. Anthony’s church at Kachatheevu Island was held on March 12th 2017 at the new church built recently.
About 6,700 Sri Lankan Catholic devotees as well as a large number religious dignitaries attended the feast. The feast mass was conducted by the Vicar General of Jaffna Diocese, Most Rev. Fr. Pathinathar Josephthas Jebaratnam.
The Sri Lankan Navy provided meals and all infrastructure facilities, including installation of sanitary and drinking water facilities to the devotees.
